Breast Lift
Breast Lift in Cleveland, OH
Do you want to reshape the contours of your breasts, or are you unhappy with decreased volume and drooping nipples? Also known as mastopexy, a breast lift can help improve your look by tightening tissue around the breast and removing excess skin. Located in the heart of Lyndhurst, Dr. Husni and the professionals at Neo Aesthetic Institute are proud to offer breast lifts to residents of Cleveland, Akron, and the neighboring communities in Ohio.
What is a Breast Lift?
Breast lifts, or mastopexies, offer women the opportunity to improve the overall look and shape of their breasts. Since 2000, the number of breast lift operations has increased drastically, with more and more women electing to reshape their breasts using their own natural tissue. During the procedure, excess skin is removed from the chest, and the tissue surrounding the breast is tightened. As a result, the breasts sit higher on the chest and possess a perkier, more youthful contour. If the areolae are too large, they can be reduced at the time of the lift.
Of course, it is important to note that every patient’s breasts are different, and the location of incisions and scarring will vary. The breast size and shape, the position and size of the areola, the amount of sagging, and the elasticity of the breasts will determine the doctor’s approach. The procedure takes about three hours and is performed under general anesthesia. Typically, this can be performed on an outpatient basis, so there is no need for an overnight stay.
How Much Does Breast Lift Cost in Cleveland, OH?
The cost of your breast lift is going to depend on the extent of the procedure needed to help you achieve your desired results. Dr. Husni will go over the details of your breast lift including its overall cost during the time of your private consultation. At Neo Aesthetic Institute, we are happy to offer financing options that allow you the comfort and convenience of paying for your procedure at your leisure.
How do I Prepare for my Breast Lift?
The first and most important step in preparing for your breast lift is to discuss the operation with a doctor, who will explain the results, help clarify expectations, and explain the risks and recovery time associated with the procedure. Sometimes, certain lifestyle changes may need to be made prior to your breast lift. Preparing for your breast lift procedure may include the following:
- Cease smoking at least six weeks before the operation to help post-operative healing.
- Stay away from aspirin or any medications that may promote extra bleeding.
- Make the necessary accommodations wherever you are recovering so you will not be forced to move around excessively.
- Do not take hot showers or baths for two to three weeks after the procedure.
What Can I Expect During my Breast Lift?
The breast lift or mastopexy is an outpatient procedure and generally takes no more than a few hours to complete. For your comfort, Dr. Husni and his team of experts will administer a general anesthetic or intravenous sedative before beginning your breast lift. The details of the procedure itself will vary according to each patient. You and Dr. Husni will discuss your options extensively before your breast lift. The way your procedure is performed will depend on a number of factors, including your desired results, anatomy and body type, and personal preferences.
Small incisions will be made around the breast, nipple, or areolae. Through these discrete incisions, Dr. Husni will strategically trim away any loose, sagging skin and tighten up the skin and tissue around the breast. This will create a perkier, more youthful appearance to the breast. Dr. Husni may also reduce the size and correct the shape of your areolae during your breast lift as well. Once the breasts are in their new position, he will carefully close all of your incisions and dress your treated area.
What Can I Expect During my Breast Lift Recovery?
Once Dr. Husni plans a follow-up visit on the first or second day following your procedure, your dressings will be removed and any fluids will be drained. You may be uncomfortable for a few days and Dr. Husni may recommend you wear special dressing or a compression garment to reduce your swelling.
The anesthesia will eventually lose its effectiveness, and you will start having some discomfort that can be managed with some form of pain medication. If this pain is long-lasting, you should contact Dr. Husni. There will also be a significant amount of redness and swelling around your treated areas. Some other typical side effects include bruising, changes in nipple sensation, numbness, itching around the incision, and firmness or fullness in the breast tissue. These side effects may last for a few weeks.
Overall recovery time varies from patient to patient. Generally, in the first week, patients are encouraged to avoid heavy physical activity. This includes lifting, bending, or straining. You will also be required to sleep on your back at an incline to help limit pressure on the breasts. Swelling can be minimized by staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, and avoiding any medications that might contribute to your swelling.
In the following weeks, it will be possible to return to work, so long as it does not involve heavy lifting or strenuous activity. Dr. Husni will follow you closely after the surgery, seeing you frequently for the first month following your breast lift. There may be increased or decreased sensitivity in the nipple and areola, but this is typically not permanent and will return to overtime. Depending on the patient and the type of incision used, the appearance of scarring can vary.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
If you feel self-conscious or unhappy about increasing sagging, lack of firmness, or the overall shape of your breasts, you may want to seriously consider this procedure. Over time, women’s breasts slowly change their shape and offer diminishing firmness, shape, and loss of skin elasticity. Some of the main contributors to this issue are pregnancy, weight fluctuations, heredity, gravity, and aging. Some additional reasons to consider a breast lift include:
- Drooping or pendulous breasts
- Inadequate substance or firmness
- Nipples and areolas that point downward
- Breast unequal in size
- Individual breast appears different than the other
- Relatively small breasts
